After graduating, he performed his social service at the Esquipulas clinic, in San Cristóbal de las Casas, a place that allowed him to attend more than 2,500 cases of general medicine in the Altos de Chiapas region.
It should be noted that his stay in one of the latitudes with the greatest diversity in the country, marked his personal and professional life in such a positive way, which earned him the recognition of the "Community Social Service Award" granted by the UANL in 2012, for his work in the State of Chiapas.
Continuing with his studies, he subsequently completed the medical specialty in Ophthalmology, graduating from the Autonomous University of Yucatán (UADY) (ID: 10508466), in the city of Mérida.
During his specialty, he attended various clinical rotations in Mexico City, which were in the Glaucoma service, at the National Rehabilitation Institute (INR), as well as in the Cornea and Refractive Surgery, Strabismus and Ophthalmopediatrics services at the Hospital Dr. Luis Sánchez Bulnes "Association to Avoid Blindness in Mexico" (APEC).
Thus, his specialty culminates with a thesis that is awarded First Place in the Research Seminar, held at the Hospital Juárez of the IMSS in Mérida, whose theme is "Phaco without Phaco: Visual results with the Mininucleus technique compared to the Phacoemulsification” (2015).
In summary, throughout his career, Dr. Santana has participated in medical brigades in the southern region of the State of Nuevo León, as well as in cataract surgery campaigns in different cities of the States of Campeche, Yucatán and Chiapas.
His commitment to medicine and to his patients is evident as he is a visual health professional who is continually updating himself on the latest medical advances emerging in the area of ophthalmology.
Proof of this is its certification by the Mexican Council of Ophthalmology, which is the most recognized national body in the field of eye health.
